The Bang & Olufsen DNA is at the heart of the Beosound Explore. It is tuned not to be the loudest, but to sound the best. The two 1.8-inch full-range drivers have tremendous musical punch and depth for such a small speaker. The main focus was on outdoor performance and superior bass. The Beosound Explore delivers 59dB of bass compared to just 46dB on the previous BeoPlay P2, and approaches the 62dB of the 2nd generation Beoplay A1. Want to turn it up louder? The Beosound Explore is the first speaker on the market to feature Type II anodized aluminum. Type II anodizing involves placing the aluminum in a sulfur bath, which causes aluminum oxide to form on the surface. This makes the material much more scratch and wear resistant than conventionally treated aluminum. Accordingly, the Beosound Explore looks newer for longer and is not easily damaged when you put the speaker in your pocket along with your keys, for example.
